Decorative Mouldings

Period Homes

October 2024

We’ve had the good fortune of sharing a longstanding and fortuitous relationship with Period Homes, a magazine considered the ultimate resource for professionals working in residential architectural interiors in the classical style. When the editors reached out to JP Weaver Company for inclusion in their annual 2024 Sourcebook issue, we of course delightfully accepted. Their article “Traditional Trim” gives a insightful view inside the workings and history of ourselves and several of our peers who produce and design decorative mouldings.

The wonderful article is something of a celebration of the very few of us extant companies who hold a passion for historic architectural and ornamental details. Our history at JP Weaver began over a century ago when Joseph Pearce Weaver began producing small composition ornament, mostly for furniture and picture frames. Decades later in 1980, Lenna Tyler Kast became the owner and revived the nearly lost art of producing ornate decorative mouldings, eventually taking on large, high-profile projects such as the restoration work for the California State Capitol.

Since then JP Weaver Company has become renowned internationally as the premier maker of elegant interior architectural ornament and decorative mouldings, along with being instrumental in preserving and promulgating the old-world trade secrets of manufacturing composition ornaments in the United States. This in addition to our extensive Petitisin© line of flexible resin decorative mouldings and our Signature Plaster Series of custom gypsum mouldings.

Our senior designer Stephanie Croce’s quote seems to say it best: “Sometimes I think we are all just a bunch of moulding nerds. We all come to the business with different skills, and yet we all just simply love and appreciate the craft and history of ornamental mouldings and what they can do to transform a space from ordinary to extraordinary.”

We’re most thankful for the privilege of the inclusion into Period Home’s 2024 Sourcebook, and should you care to take a peek, here’s the link: Period Homes 2024 Sourcebook. As Stephanie says, we’re all just a bunch of moulding nerds here who love and appreciate what we do, and look forward to the opportunity to transform your space or project into something extraordinary.
