This is another combination of ornamental elements that is a basic part of ornamental history. This combination was used in a main room of one of the Newport Rhode Island mansions. We have interpreted here in a smaller size to fit the scale of a smaller room. The overlay of the acanthus leaf is very dimensional and gi es a hand carved feeling of extra depth to the design. It is appropriate for all periods.
