Hope in 2022
New Year of Promise
The difficulty and hardships Covid has brought to bear on everyone in private and business life is incalculable, and we, the design and manufacturing staff here at JP Weaver, sincerely hope this year brings new beginnings full of promise and good health to all of you. Yet even despite the challenges that came with 2021, we at JP Weaver were blessed with many wonderful projects which kept our collective hands and minds quite busy and we wanted to share some of this work with you.
Some, and perhaps many of you are familiar with the artwork and persona of tattoo artist, model, entrepreneur and recording artist Kat Von D. Something of a maverick in her approach to most things, Kat turned her creative eye towards the recreation of the interiors of her Hancock Park estate. Her penchant for classical design and unabashed bold sense of color proved a perfect amalgam for her design direction. Our staff designer Angela Isayan took Kat’s initial call and the two hit it off instantly.
The fruit of their collaboration is something of a marvel. The muted greens and tipped gold of the French panels in the main salon hearken a Baroque magisterial air, while bold crimson and gold brocaded walls lead the eye to an exquisite Adam’s style ceiling in the Master Bedroom. The home reflecting a testament to Kat Von D herself; romantic, yet utterly original.
One of our venerable clients Scott Johnston, owner of “The Wood Extension”, has been creating and designing spectacular bespoke furniture for over 30 years. JP Weaver’s Designer Joshua Kast took Scott’s call when he wanted to create an elegant credenza style piece featuring Hounduran mahogany embellished with ornament with a gold finish for a client.
Joshua drew up a remarkable drawing featuring three cameos with allegorical puttis so serve as focal points in the rich burled front-facing wood panels. A beautiful dimensional acanthus leaf linear would serve as the cabinet’s cornice. Bullited ornament pieces would be placed in individual panels along the base. Josh drew inspiration of the design from some of Napoleon’s Conceil cabinets at Fontainebleau. Scott’s collaboration with Joshua produced a remarkable result that went far beyond all expectations from the client.
Among the many projects our Senior Lead Designer Stephanie Croce helmed was a massive formal Ballroom in South Florida measuring 36 feet in width and 48 feet in length. The ceiling height soared in excess of 30 feet.
Daunting dimensions such as these might give pause to a designer faint of heart. However these types of parameters just seem all the more to fuel Stephanie creativity. Stephanie set to task to produce finished architectural drawings (see photo below), which were enthusiastically approved and the project and molding production commenced.
The clients were so thrilled they engaged a 3D artist to produce computer renderings (see photo). It’s no small coincidence Stephanie’s clients have a son and daughter, both dazzling virtuosos in violin and piano respectively, who preform internationally under the baton of distinguished conductors of the world’s leading orchestras. It’s not hard to imagine the faint strains of a waltz or minuet wafting from this elegant ballroom once all is completed; and in some small way fosters a re-imagining of an opulent era.
As mentioned at the beginning, we hope all of you have all faired as best as possible in this difficult era of uncertainty and suffering and wish the most wholesome recovery for all of us as is achievable.
